Building leaders
Note: Watch here for information on this program.
We have put applications for the National Conference of College Women Student Leaders on hold while we planned and developed additional programs aimed at supporting young leaders in our community.
Our Scholarships for Young Leaders and Flash Funds programs now provide needed assistance to area college women working to develop their career and leadership potential. We issued 14 scholarships for Young Leaders for the 2022-23 school year.
We will consider funds for the annual National Conference of College Women Student Leaders (NCCWSL) again. The conference provides interactive workshops, networking opportunities, and leadership mentoring through a national conference.
In 2021, the Saint Cloud Area Branch chose an impressive group of young women to receive scholarships for the organization’s virtual conference.
Many of our recipients have volunteered, worked, competed in sports and extracurricular activities, traveled to other countries to study or volunteer, and maintained high grades.

Our NCCWSL Committee members are: CSB Associate Professor Whitney Court, Coordinator; Jerilyn Petersen; Kathy Laakso; Donna Nordang; Carol Brash; and Mary Lou Lenz, advisor.
During the past few years, the Saint Cloud Area Branch has sponsored 4-5 women college students from the College of Saint Benedict and St. Cloud State University to attend with more than 800 college students from around the U.S. In 2021, we were able to sponsor more because the conference will be virtual.
Students say this experience has been “life changing”!
